COURSE SUMMARY
Urban warfare presents one of the most complex and high-risk environments for modern militaries. With over 60% of future conflicts expected to occur in cities, commanders must navigate tactical, legal, and humanitarian challenges while ensuring compliance with International Humanitarian Law (IHL). Recent conflicts in Gaza, Ukraine, and Syria highlight the devastating consequences of urban combat when IHL is disregarded leading to high civilian casualties, legal repercussions, and strategic failures. This 4th Operational Law Course is designed to equip senior military leaders with the legal frameworks, decision-making tools, and ethical leadership principles required to win battles while minimizing harm to civilians and infrastructure.
